Fermi surface topology and impurity-induced resonance state in BiS2_{2}-based superconductors

Within the two-orbital model for BiS2_{2}-based superconductors, the effect from a single nonmagnetic impurity scattering on the superconducting-state is investigated in terms of the T-matrix approach. By considering three kinds of the typical Fermi surface topology which characterize the essential features of the doping dependence of the electronic structure in BiS2_{2}-based superconductors, it is found that the impurity scattering on the superconducting-state with the conventional ss-wave, the extended ss-wave, the Β±s\pm s-wave, and the dx2βˆ’y2d_{x^{2}-y^{2}}-wave symmetries induces \textit{qualitatively} different resonance states due to the evolution of unique nodal structures on the Fermi surface with doping. These impurity-induced resonance states can be verified directly by the scanning tunneling microscopy experiments, and therefore they are proposed as a probe of the superconducting pairing symmetry in BiS2_{2}-based superconductors.Comment: 5 pages, 7 figure

Errors in particle tracking velocimetry with high-speed cameras

Velocity errors in particle tracking velocimetry (PTV) are studied. When using high-speed video cameras, the velocity error may increase at a high camera frame rate. This increase in velocity error is due to particle-position uncertainty, which is one of two sources of velocity errors studied here. The other source of error is particle acceleration, which has the opposite trend of diminishing at higher frame rates. Both kinds of errors can propagate into quantities calculated from velocity, such as the kinetic temperature of particles or correlation functions. As demonstrated in a dusty plasma experiment, the kinetic temperature of particles has no unique value when measured using PTV, but depends on the sampling time interval or frame rate. It is also shown that an artifact appears in an autocorrelation function computed from particle positions and velocities, and it becomes more severe when a small sampling-time interval is used. Schemes to reduce these errors are demonstrated.Comment: 6 pages, 5 figures, Review of Scientific Instruments, 2011 (In Press

Two-loop QCD Corrections to BcB_c Meson Leptonic Decays

    Get PDF
The two-loop QCD radiative corrections to the BcB_c meson leptonic decay rate are calculated in the framework of NRQCD factorization formalism. Two types of master integrals appearing in the calculation are obtained analytically for the first time. We get the short-distance coefficient of the leading matrix element to order αs2\alpha_s^2 by matching the full perturbative QCD calculation results to the corresponding NRQCD ones. The result in this work helps the evaluation of the BcB_c leptonic decay constant, as well as the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element ∣Vcb∣|V_{cb}|, to the full next-to-next-to-leading order degree of accuracy.Comment: Typos are correcte
